May 11, 2014 · Still alive and ... renovating!
|
May 20, 2013 · Bathroom renovations are finally complete!

November 12, 2012 · We're back from our two week trip to Palm Desert and Las Vegas
Melissa's highlight: driving three supercars. Geoff's highlight: seeing Las Vegas in the rear view mirror... |
September 30, 2012 · Visiting family and old friends in BC
Melissa had a short but great trip out West. Wonderful to see Sarah again and meet Hamish for the first time. And spending time with Jen, Andrew, Leo and Elliott is always awesome. :-) |
September 8, 2012 · The whole picture Bring on winter! Next year we rebuild the balcony and the deck...
|
August 20, 2012 · The last garden door! Did this one by myself, and it's certainly not getting any quicker. But, you know what? At this point we've spent 4 days worth of effort and saved ourselves over $6,000 by installing them ourselves. That's the best part.
|
August 16, 2012 · Another door down, 1 to go Did this one by myself, took about the same time (all damn day). Granted, I had to hold the nails myself, so that didn't help :-P
|
August 12, 2012 · Holy, hail! That's a Toonie in the middle.
|
August 11, 2012 · New garden doors for the deck 2 down, 2 more to go!
The green tape is there to hold the wood while the glue dries - Melissa got a little chisel-happy when mounting the hardware, but, we're learning. |
August 4, 2012 · New garden doors for the patio It only took us 7 hours (being our first time and not knowing what to expect from 30-year old construction), but we finally got rid of the old sliding doors on the patio (the first of 4 in total, for the South side of the house) and replaced them with new garden doors; low-e and argon filled. Goodbye to cold winters in the basement!
The blue tape in the top left corner is there to hold the drip-cap down while the silicone dries - bent it slightly getting the old brick mould out. It's gone now :) |
July 28, 2012 · Finally, a screen door
We picked up a new Andersen storm door at Home Depot during their 15% off sale. Who needs air conditioning? This alone makes a big difference to move air throughout the house. Ahhh, cool. Except, if you look closely, Melissa put the door handles on upside-down. |
July 5, 2012 · I'm not sure, but I think it's raining
Maybe just a light drizzle? |
June 10, 2012 · Spring has sprung
The bulbs we got from Costco actually bloomed! And not only that, they're gorgeous! |
May 18, 2012 · Melissa's back from her trip to the UK (and really jet-lagged)
Now to sort through 778 pictures... |
July 25, 2011 · It's been a long year... We've been busy landscaping the backyard (among other things), that's why we haven't updated the page in a year. We just finished (for this year) the garden area - fixing the poorly built gate and steps, tossing the ugly-ass concrete blocks and removing the cheap gravel to put in a cedar raised garden and a greenhouse - we'll let you figure out which is the before, and which is the after... Two new gates and three new steps
Ugly concrete sidewalk blocks replaced with a raised garden and recycled rubber tire ground-cover
 Ugly gravel and dying grass replaced by a beautiful 20' x 10' garden and a 6' x 10' greenhouse
 Much better than before
